before your wax

before your wax

Prior to your waxing appointment, you should have about 3 – 4 weeks of hair growth. A minimum length of ΒΌ of an inch to 1 inch of hair is required for hair removal services ( At least the length of rice). Three to four weeks is the average amount of time it should take for enough hair to be present for removal by your esthetician, however, it depends on the individual. Your current shaving or wax routine may affect your hair growth timeline differently. Please schedule your appointment accordingly.

Waxing is the most popular alternative to shaving. When it comes to shaving, you’re only shaving what’s on the surface. This means after about 24 hours (if that) you’ll most likely no longer have that soft skin feeling you want. With waxing, the hair is being removed from the root. When the wax strip is pulled off, you can even see the little tiny white bulbs at the end of the follicle root. Waxing gives you a long-lasting hairless look for weeks, as opposed to only 1-3 days after shaving.

Please try to exfoliate using a dry brush, body scrub, or an exfoliating tool to remove any dead skin that can block the hair from coming out successfully. Exfoliate 1-2 days before your scheduled appointment.

It’s advised that you shower before your appointment as it helps the process stay sanitary and is considered respectful in my field of work.

It’s completely normal to wax on your cycle, please where a fresh tampon before coming into your appointment. No need to feel embarrassed. You may be more sensitive to the waxing sensation in your treatment.

Follow these precautionary steps for the best possible results. After your waxing appointment, it is best to stay out of pools, hot tubs, saunas, etc for approximately 24 hours after waxing. Also, avoid sex and any activity that involves sweating. Post-wax care should include using soothing post-care products, which is sold at each treatment service like ingrown hair serums, dry brushes, our hydrating and soothing Kitty Lotion.

About 72 hours after your wax, Jasmine recommends exfoliation 2-3 times a week to prevent ingrown hairs. Exfoliate your areas using a dry brush, gloves, body sugar scrub, ingrown hair serum, or anything appropriate for light scrubbing. Exfoliating regularly after your hair removal appointment helps takes away hyper-pigmentation the body may have.

In addition to preventing discoloration, exfoliating can help prevent those god-forsaken ingrown hairs. Sphynx Wax Studio services should be maintained every 3-4 weeks depending on hair growth. As you wax more often, the hair being removed will begin to grow back naturally thinner. After a few months of regularly waxing, your maintenance routine should extend to about every 4-5 weeks.
